🔒 TL;DR — The Short Version
Local AI Subtitle processes all audio and text entirely on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your voice data, transcripts, or any personally identifiable information to any server. The only data we handle is your email address for licensing purposes, and payment information is processed securely by our payment provider — we never see your card details.
1 Information We Collect
We collect the minimum information necessary to provide and improve our service:
- Email address — collected when you purchase a license or sign up for updates, used solely for license activation and product communications.
- Payment information — processed entirely by our third-party payment provider (Creem / Paddle). We do not store or have access to your credit card number, CVV, or banking details.
- Basic usage analytics — anonymous, aggregated data such as extension version, browser version, and feature usage counts. This data cannot be used to identify you.
We do NOT collect: your audio recordings, transcription results, translation outputs, browsing history, or any content you process with the extension.
2 How Your Audio & Text Data Is Processed
🛡️ All AI processing happens 100% locally on your device. Your audio, transcripts, and translations never leave your browser — not even to our servers.
Local AI Subtitle uses WebGPU technology to run AI models (speech recognition and machine translation) directly within your Chrome browser. This means:
- Audio captured from browser tabs is processed in-memory on your device only.
- Transcription and translation results are displayed locally and are never transmitted.
- Local files you upload for offline processing remain entirely on your device.
- No audio snippets, text fragments, or inference results are sent to any remote server.
3 License & Payment Data
When you purchase a license for Local AI Subtitle:
- Your email address is used to generate and deliver your license key.
- Payment transactions are handled by our payment processor. We receive only a transaction confirmation and your email — never your full payment details.
- Your license key may be validated periodically against our licensing server to confirm it is active and has not been shared. This validation sends only an anonymized license token — no personal data.
4 How We Use Your Information
We use the limited information we collect for the following purposes:
- To activate and validate your software license.
- To send you important product updates, security notices, and renewal reminders.
- To respond to your support requests.
- To improve the extension based on anonymous, aggregated usage patterns.
- To comply with applicable laws and legal obligations.
We will never sell, rent, or use your email for unsolicited marketing from third parties.
5 Data Sharing & Third Parties
We do not sell or rent your personal information. We may share limited data with:
- Payment processors (e.g., Creem, Paddle) — to complete your purchase. Subject to their own privacy policies.
- Email service providers — to deliver transactional emails (license keys, receipts). These providers are contractually prohibited from using your data for any other purpose.
- Law enforcement — only when required by applicable law or valid legal process.
No audio data, transcription data, or translation data is ever shared with any third party under any circumstances.
6 Data Retention
- Email address — retained for the duration of your active license plus 2 years for accounting and legal compliance.
- Purchase records — retained for 7 years as required by financial regulations.
- Support correspondence — retained for 2 years after resolution.
- Audio / transcript / translation data — never stored; processed in-memory only and discarded immediately.
You may request deletion of your email and account data at any time by contacting us (see Section 11).
7 Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction — request correction of inaccurate data.
- Deletion — request deletion of your personal data ("right to be forgotten").
- Portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection — object to certain types of processing.
- Withdrawal of consent — withdraw consent for marketing communications at any time.

8 Cookies & Analytics

The Chrome extension itself does not use cookies. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Local AI Subtitle is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.
10 Changes to This Policy

- Notify active license holders by email for material changes.
